The Eureka/Arcata Corridor (E/A Corridor) is a 6-mile stretch along U.S. Highway 101 that serves as a primary transportation hub in Humboldt County. The E/A Corridor contains essential utility lines, residential areas, and business that can all be affected by sea level rise (SLR) and flooding.

Key Issues in the Area

The E/A Corridor is considered a priority asset in terms of risk to SLR due to its location and the need for adaptation planning.

Most of the shoreline along the E/A Corridor have high or moderate risk of flooding.
Flooding, storm surge, and coastal cliff erosion impact the area’s the bridges, roadways, and culverts.

Current Planning Activities

State, regional, and local agencies are working together to evaluate and address current infrastructure issues caused by SLR, as well as plan for long-term solutions.
